about

Practical systems and long-term technical work

I am Osvaldo Valdez, a systems developer and simulation designer based in Oceanside, California.

I build practical technology for businesses while developing a deeper body of work around physics, simulation, and interactive systems.

work

Client work and independent work

My client work is grounded in useful outcomes: a business that is easier to find, a workflow that is easier to manage, or a system that removes repeated friction.

My independent work follows a longer timeline. I am interested in software that produces behavior from rules, constraints, persistence, and interaction.

standards

What matters in the work

The same standards apply whether the project is a small business website or a simulation system.

  • Make the result useful
  • Keep the structure understandable
  • Use clear language
  • Pay attention to the details
  • Avoid adding things that do not help
  • Leave the system easier to maintain

outside work

Outside work

I am based in coastal Southern California. Away from the screen, I am usually riding, photographing somewhere unfamiliar, studying physics, or working through an idea that has taken longer than expected.

I prefer things with structure, character, and enough depth to stay interesting after the first impression.

independent project

Dead Insomniac

Dead Insomniac is the long-term creative direction behind my simulation and game-technology work.

It is concerned with physical worlds, persistence, emergent behavior, and systems that continue to matter after the player moves on.

It is not linked publicly yet because there is not a working build I am ready to show.

approach

I care more about whether the work holds together than whether it looks busy. I build carefully, share selectively, and keep improving what is already there.
